Endometriosis is a common gynecological disease that affects one in ten women. It is related to the formation of tissue similar to the uterine lining outside the uterus. Different organs can be affected. The disease can be asymptomatic. 

Why is endometriosis only detectable after several diagnoses?

Endometriosis is a difficult disease to diagnose. The list of symptoms is just as long and similar to that of menstruation. However, it can be identified with a combination of several examinations: an ultrasound of the uterus, a laparoscopy or even an X-ray examination of the uterus and tubes.

Can a woman give birth with endometriosis?

Everything is relative from one woman to another. It all depends on the severity of the endometriosis in the woman's body. Endometriosis causes inflammation and irritation of the tissues that disrupt the maturation of the eggs, making normal ovulation impossible. In some cases, endometriosis can interfere with implantation of the fertilized egg in the uterine cavity.

How to deal with endometriosis?

To date, there is no cure for endometriosis. But a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) can always be prescribed to relieve the pain. Endometriosis can also be treated with medications that regulate the menstrual cycle, causing a cessation of menstruation.
